Cylindrical lithium - ion batteries have become increasingly popular in various applications, and their environmental friendliness is a significant aspect.
In terms of materials, the positive electrode materials in cylindrical lithium - ion batteries, such as lithium cobalt oxide, lithium nickel - cobalt - manganese oxide (NCM), and lithium iron phosphate (LFP), have different environmental implications. Lithium iron phosphate, for example, is considered more environmentally friendly. It contains no heavy metals like cobalt, which is a scarce and expensive resource and also has environmental and social issues associated with its mining.
