14500 battery

Which is better, 14500 lithium battery or 18650?

The 14500 lithium battery has a diameter of 14mm and a height of 50mm. Commonly used lithium iron phosphate batteries and lithium cobalt oxide batteries have rated voltages of 3.2V and 3.7V respectively. The 18650 battery has a diameter of 18mm and a length of 65mm. It is widely used in many occasions, such as notebook computers, electric vehicles, flashlights and so on.

From the perspective of application scenarios, 18650 batteries are more widely used than 14500 batteries. From the perspective of parameters, the capacity of 14500 lithium batteries is generally between 600mAh-800mAh, and the maximum capacity generally does not exceed 900mAh, while the conventional capacity of 18650 batteries is generally between 2000-2600mAh, and the highest can be 3400mAh.

From the perspective of energy density, lithium cobalt oxide has the advantages of high discharge platform, high specific capacity, good cycle performance, and simple synthesis process, but the cost is relatively high. Ternary materials can be balanced and regulated in terms of energy density, cycle performance, safety and cost.

In summary, there are certain differences between 14500 lithium batteries and 18650 batteries in terms of application scenarios, parameters, and energy density. Which battery to choose should be determined according to actual needs and uses.
