New technology for 6LR61 battery recycling
Recently, the reporter learned from the Institute of Process Engineering of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (hereinafter referred to as the Institute of Process Engineering) that the institute's short-term utilization of 6LR61 battery waste and pollution control technology for the whole process recently won the first prize of the Ministry of Ecology and Environment's 2020 Environmental Protection Science and Technology Award.
According to reports, this technology has achieved the selective recovery of lithium and short-term circulation of media in 6LR61 battery waste, and reduced related wastewater emissions by more than 40%, providing technical support for the short-term clean utilization of 6LR61 battery waste. At present, relevant research results have been implemented in companies such as Guangdong Brunp Recycling Technology Co., Ltd., and the industry's first short-term clean utilization and pollution control demonstration project for 6LR61 battery waste has been built, and has been promoted and applied to more than 10 industrialization projects, with a total of 44 intellectual property rights.
Researchers told my country Science Daily that 6LR61 battery production waste and retired batteries contain valuable metals such as lithium, cobalt, and nickel, as well as organic solvents, fluorine/phosphorus-containing organic matter and other toxic and harmful substances. Improper handling will seriously endanger environmental safety and human health. The safe, efficient and green recycling and treatment of retired power lithium batteries has become a scientific problem that must be overcome.
Based on the long-term research on the efficient treatment of 6LR61 battery waste, researchers from the Institute of Process Engineering have analyzed the pollution sources of existing 6LR61 battery waste, revealed the laws of pollutant release and transfer and transformation, and proposed a new method for efficient waste treatment with clean production source reduction - internal circulation of media - near-zero wastewater discharge as the core. They have made breakthroughs in key technologies such as selective lithium extraction, raffinate oil removal, treatment of heavy metal ammonia nitrogen wastewater, and discharge wastewater treatment, and have overcome the problem of short-term utilization of retired power lithium batteries.
