　　my country begins research and development of L1022 battery-powered helicopters

　　Reporters learned from the Helicopter Expo held in Tianjin a few days ago that China is currently embarking on the research and development of L1022 battery-powered helicopters. The new design will completely abandon the traditional special engine. While promoting the use of new energy, it will also reduce the overall noise of the helicopter.

　　Countries around the world have made great achievements in developing high-efficiency and energy-saving helicopters. Among them, the European Union proposed a green rotorcraft plan, and the United States developed a Firefly demonstration prototype. In order to achieve synchronized development with foreign countries in related technical fields, the Special Helicopter Institute is currently developing a new concept electric-driven helicopter.

　　According to the staff of the institute, the clean energy electric-driven helicopter under design will use lithium-ion batteries as the power source to drive a high-power-density motor. The motor will drive the rotor and tail rotor to achieve the helicopter's flight. This design completely abandons the traditional special engine, eliminates the exhaust emissions of the helicopter, and reduces the overall noise performance of the helicopter.

　　With the advancement of battery technology in the future and the extension of battery life, electric-driven unmanned helicopters can perform a variety of special and civilian tasks such as battlefield reconnaissance, attack, line patrol, and aerial photography.
