  r03 battery charging management method

Another important part of the r03 battery supervision intelligent management system is the battery charging management method for lithium batteries. At present, there are mainly two charging methods, one is the constant current power supply charging method, and the other is the surge current charging method. Based on these two charging methods, there are currently three main charging methods: linear charging method, switch charging method and single pulse charging method. Among them, linear charging and switching charging adopt constant current power source charging methods.

  1. Linear battery charging method

The linear battery charging method is mainly used in wireless network equipment that is sensitive to noise. Its advantages are the lowest cost and least complexity. At the same time, it has the least impact on transmission and radiation among the three methods. However, this battery charging method has a very big drawback, which is that the power consumption is very large. Based on these advantages and disadvantages of linear charging methods, this type of charging method has a very large market in low-power portable device charging methods. The linear battery charging method examines the battery voltage to determine its battery charging status [26]. When the battery voltage is lower than a certain threshold voltage, it is in a precharge state. At this time, the battery is charged with a smaller current. After the precharge reaches the battery voltage to the threshold voltage, it enters the DC charging stage. Depending on the charging status, the current can be adjusted. DC circuit charging causes the battery voltage to rise to a stable voltage. After the battery charging voltage (usually), it enters a stable voltage charging state. When the battery is charging at a stable operating voltage, the current will slowly decrease. When the current is lower than a certain threshold, the battery is fully charged. After the battery is charged, the battery voltage is monitored. When the battery voltage is lower than the threshold, the battery is recharged and enters the next charging cycle.

  2. Switch charging method

Regarding the linear battery charging method, the biggest advantage of the switching charging method is low loss. This charging method can maintain a very low loss in a wide input voltage range and a free charging battery terminal voltage range. . Due to its high loss, the linear battery charging method may have very serious side effects when used in some places with poor heat dissipation conditions and relatively high operating temperatures. Therefore, in this environment, it is very necessary to adopt the power switch charging method.

However, the switch charging method also has its own shortcomings. The circuit built by this method is large and complex, and there are also some impact problems.

  3. Pulse charging method

The pulse charging method is a new battery charging method. The first half of the charging process is the same as the constant current power supply-constant current source charging method. The constant current power supply is used to charge the battery at the beginning. When the battery voltage rises to 100%, it begins to switch to the real single-pulse battery charging stage instead of constant current source charging. In the single-pulse charging stage, the charging head intermittently charges the current, and the current value is the same as in the constant-current charging stage. After a certain period of time, when the battery voltage exceeds the limit, the battery charging control circuit is disconnected and the working voltage will gradually decrease. After it drops to a certain value, the charging circuit is turned on and the battery is charged again. This process is repeated until the voltage decreases slowly enough and the battery is fully charged.

The single-pulse battery charging method combines the advantages of the switching method and the linear method. This type of battery charging method is not prone to heat loss and is very efficient, and because this method does not have an additional output low-pass filter, it is not prone to impact. However, the single-pulse charging method also has its own shortcomings, that is, the cost is relatively high. This is because it requires a switching power supply with a relatively current-limiting effect.
