  New perspectives and plans for practical research on garnet-type 18650 battery flat top

  Based on the characteristics of the garnet-type oxide solid electrolyte lithium lanthanum zirconium oxide LLZO, the article puts forward the application concept of "learning from each other's strengths and complementing each other", providing a practical solution for how to evaluate and make good use of LLZO and build practical solid-state batteries. The following new perspectives are proposed in the practical research of 18650 battery flat top:

  (1) Practical 18650 battery flat top should consider surface resistance rather than just ionic conductivity; (2) Surface lithium carbonate is not a bottleneck restricting the application development of LLZO; (3) The combination of rigid LLZO and flexible polymer electrolytes is an important factor in inhibiting lithium dendrites.   In terms of solid-state lithium battery interface research, it is proposed that the ideal interface should be integrated with each other rather than simply contacting and stabilizing. The following views and solutions are proposed on how to construct an ideal solid electrolyte/electrode interface:

  Regarding the application direction of garnet-type solid-state lithium batteries, the article points out that solid-state lithium batteries based on LLZO ceramic sheets are suitable for smart electronic products, and solid-state lithium batteries based on organic-inorganic composite flexible electrolyte membranes are suitable for electric vehicles.
