  Among these 30 new energy passenger cars, 25 passenger models are equipped with ternary batteries, 4 models are equipped with unspecified types, and there is only 1 model of lithium iron phosphate. Ternary batteries are already used in new energy passenger cars. domain dominates.

  Now that energy density has been linked to subsidies, energy density is naturally the focus of major car companies. In this recommended catalog, there are 20 pure electric passenger car models with battery system energy density exceeding 120wh/kg, accounting for 67% of pure electric passenger car models, and can receive 1.1 times subsidy, and the energy density is the highest reached 151.5wh/kg.

  Among new energy special vehicles, a total of 107 vehicles were shortlisted, and the energy density of the battery system they equipped was generally around 110wh/kg. Among them, 58 models are equipped with ternary batteries, accounting for 54%, 44 models are equipped with iron phosphate, accounting for 41%, and there is 1 model equipped with lithium-ion batteries (unspecified type).

  3.7v 18650 lithium battery are commercialized and battery technology upgrades are accelerated

  Recently, South Korea's SK Innovation (SK Innovation) took the lead in stating that it has achieved commercial production of lithium-ion batteries. Compared with traditional ternary lithium-ion batteries, this battery contains more nickel and significantly less expensive components such as cobalt, thereby extending the battery life and reducing production costs.

  In ternary materials, the role of cobalt is mainly to stabilize the layered structure of the material and improve the cycle and rate performance of the material, but too high a cobalt content will lead to a reduction in actual capacity; the role of nickel is mainly to increase the volume energy density of the material. However, ternary materials with high nickel content will also cause mixed discharge of lithium and nickel, resulting in the precipitation of lithium. The role of manganese is mainly to reduce material costs, improve material safety and structural stability, but excessive manganese content will destroy the material. The layered structure reduces the specific capacity of the material; therefore, in the future development of materials, while keeping manganese unchanged, increasing the nickel content and reducing the cobalt content is a comprehensive consideration of cost and capacity performance.

  The innovation of batteries is not only due to the increase in the price of expensive components such as cobalt, but also the requirement to increase energy density. Battery manufacturers in Asia are trying to develop new lithium-ion batteries, mainly by increasing the proportion of nickel. The proportions of nickel, manganese and cobalt in traditional lithium-ion batteries are 60%, 20% and 20% respectively. However, SK Innovation claimed in its speech that mass-produced medium and large lithium-ion batteries contain 80% nickel, 10% cobalt, and 10% manganese.

  Increasing the proportion of nickel will help increase the single cruising range of electric vehicles. The battery will also be used in the field of energy storage in December this year and will be used in electric vehicles starting in the third quarter of next year. Lee Jon-ha, chief researcher of SK Innovation Battery R&D Center, said in his speech: "This battery is expected to extend the cruising range of electric vehicles to 500km, and we will also start developing new batteries before 2020, which is expected to extend the cruising range to 700km. ."

  The promotion of 3.7v 18650 lithium battery is a requirement of energy density and price. With the explosive development of new energy vehicles, driven by this, power battery materials will also usher in huge development opportunities.
