Do lithium batteries require trickle charging?
Trickle flow charging is used to save the capacitance loss caused by the self discharge rate of lithium batteries when fully charged. Under normal circumstances, the safe use of pulse power for charging is to better compensate for the self discharge rate and maintain the battery in a continuous small working current charging state that is approximately fully charged. Also known as system maintenance charging. The battery of the DC power supply system for telecommunications broadband equipment, signal systems, etc. is mostly in a trickle charging state after thorough charging for safe use during discharge.
The entire process of charging lithium-ion batteries for smartphones includes three steps: high-speed charging, intermittent charging, and trickle charging. In theory, after the first two stages, although the system displays a battery level of 100%, in fact, the battery has not truly reached the critical state. At this moment, the excess capacitance can only be supplemented by a subtle pulse power supply, which usually takes 30-40 minutes. Only when all three steps are completed can the battery truly achieve a good state of saturated power consumption.
If trickle charging is used, the charging transmission rate will immediately decrease. Pulse charging is more suitable within the following range and can be used according to one's own actual situation
Generally speaking, as the amount of electricity consumed by lithium batteries is released over time during safe use, the operating voltage decreases significantly, and the chemical reaction specificity of the battery also decreases significantly. From the perspective of protecting the lifespan of lithium batteries, the charging of standard lithium batteries usually goes through four stages: trickle charging (low-voltage pre charging), constant current charging, constant voltage charging, and charging stoppage.
Trickle flow charging is used for pre charging (recovery charging) of fully discharged lithium battery cells. When the battery voltage is below 3V, it is safe to use trickle charging. The working current of trickle charging is one tenth of the constant current charging current, which is 0.1c (taking a constant charging current of 1A as an example, the working current of trickle charging is 100mA).
