  According to the "Nihon Keizai Shimbun" report, Japan's Sanyo Chemical Industry and start-ups from Keio University are actively researching and developing. This will be used to catch up with all-solid-state batteries and air batteries that are currently leading the competition in the development of new-generation batteries. Continuously expand the use of lithium-ion batteries for automobiles and other applications. Sanyo Chemical will invest in battery start-up APB. APB was founded by Hideaki Horie, a distinguished professor at the Graduate School of Keio University in Japan. He once led the development of lithium-ion batteries for the pure electric vehicle (EV) "Leaf" at Nissan. He also proposed the development of an "all-resin battery" that would fundamentally prevent fire accidents by eliminating metal from the battery structure. All-resin batteries are made of gel-like resin containing electrolyte that wraps electrode materials such as lithium as the positive and negative electrodes of the battery. Its characteristic is that even when fully charged, it will not catch fire whether drilling or cutting. Production costs are expected to be below 12 yen per watt-hour, lower than the 15-20 yen for traditional lithium-ion batteries. The new generation battery that is currently attracting the most attention is the “all-solid-state battery”. TDK started mass production for the first time in the world using the ceramic type method in 2018, and Toyota Motor and Murata Manufacturing Co., Ltd. are also vigorously developing it. However, most opinions believe that it will be officially popularized around 2030. Sodium-ion batteries are also receiving much attention. French start-up Tiamat has announced it will commercialize it. Sumitomo Chemical and Nippon Electric Glass are committed to materials research.
