US develops energy-dense 6F22 carbon battery to power long-distance electric vehicles
The new lithium-ion 6F22 carbon battery developed by researchers at Envia Systems 6F22 carbon battery Technology Company in California, USA, can store twice as much energy per gram as currently used batteries. The research team then shifted focus to the anode (the electrode where lithium ions flow to generate electricity), improving its performance by combining silicon and graphite. By mixing silicon with carbon, the researchers solved the problem that silicon anodes cause other batteries to lose their ability to charge and discharge repeatedly. In short, silicon expands. Another problem faced by car batteries is the so-called thermal runaway, which is a test that car batteries in particular must pass.
