  Technical level of CR1220 battery

  The cell is an important component of the lithium battery pack assembly. A lithium battery pack that has passed the manufacturer's safety inspection and is delivered to the market is usually composed of several major parts such as the cell, management unit and shell. What is a lithium battery pack cell? A lithium battery pack cell refers to a single electrochemical cell containing positive and negative electrodes, which is generally not used directly.

  It is mainly composed of positive electrode materials, negative electrode materials, electrolytes, diaphragms and shells. The quality of the cell directly determines the quality of the lithium battery pack. There are three types of cells that are widely used in the market, mainly 18650 cells, polymer cells and lithium iron phosphate cells.

  1. 18650 cells 18650 lithium batteries refer to batteries with a diameter of 18mm and a length of 65mm, where 0 represents a cylindrical battery. The technology of 18650 cells is relatively mature, with a stable battery structure, high specific capacity, outstanding comprehensive performance, and can be used in a wide range because of its small size.

  2. Polymer battery cells The difference between polymer batteries and traditional lithium-ion batteries lies in the production process. Lithium batteries are wound and have a softer volume. Polymers are stacked and have a harder body. For polymer and lithium batteries of the same volume, polymers have a larger capacity, about 30% higher. And it is safer and has a lower risk of explosion. Long service life.

  3. Lithium iron phosphate battery cells Lithium iron phosphate battery cells are more common on the earth in terms of material composition. The P-O bond in the lithium iron phosphate crystal in the battery cell is stable and difficult to decompose. Even at high temperature or overcharge, it will not collapse and generate heat or form strong oxidizing substances like lithium cobalt oxide, so it has good safety.

  How is the technical level of lithium battery pack cells? In terms of the technical level of CR1220 battery, there is still a big gap between China and foreign countries. This time, the editor of Energy Storage Electric will analyze the technical level of domestic lithium batteries from the three packaging systems of lithium battery pack cells. The three packaging systems of lithium batteries are square shell, cylindrical, and soft pack. These three packaging systems are the most widely used methods worldwide.

  1) Square Shell In terms of square shell cells, the energy density of some domestic enterprises has reached 240Wh/kg, and there are plans to increase the energy density of lithium batteries to 300Wh/kg before 2020. In the international arena, the lithium batteries produced by some foreign enterprises are 10Wh/kg higher than those of domestic enterprises, and their energy density has reached 250Wh/kg. However, according to industry insiders, the positive electrode materials used in this higher energy density lithium battery may be different from those used in China. Although there is still some gap between domestic enterprises and foreign enterprises in energy density, the gap is not too large, and the two may not be the same in the selection of battery materials. If you simply want to compare the technical level, the energy density between square shell cells of the same specification is more comparable. So from the perspective of technology alone, there may not be much difference between domestic and foreign technologies.

  2) Cylindrical In terms of cylindrical cells, the energy density of lithium batteries produced by domestic manufacturers has reached 240Wh/kg, and the technical level of foreign manufacturers has reached 250Wh/kg. In terms of energy density, cylindrical cells and square shell cells are 10Wh/kg behind those in foreign countries. However, domestic enterprises are also trying hard to catch up with this gap. I believe that the day of catching up with the technical level of foreign lithium cells is not far away.

  3) Soft pack If the energy density of soft pack cells is also compared with that of cells with other packaging methods, then the technology of soft pack cells will definitely reach a high density level of 200Wh/kg faster. Due to the green and environmentally friendly nature of lithium batteries in materials and their advantages in energy density, they have been developed consistently at home and abroad, and the research on their technology will continue to improve.
