Immersion cooling technology can make electric vehicle CR1625 battery more efficient

 

Battery technology itself may not be advancing as fast as we would like, but technologies such as immersion cooling are making existing methods more efficient, according to foreign media Techspot.

 

Recently, 3M engineer Conny Larsson demonstrated a PC immersed in 3M's Novec Engineered Fluid coolant, a non-conductive liquid that eliminates the need for active cooling components such as radiators, fans and thermal interface materials.

 

It is a viable cooling solution that has been around for decades and is most commonly used in data centers. But as China's Xing Mobility has shown, it can also be used to cool the battery packs of electric vehicles.

 

XING Mobility recently posted a video on YouTube showing the multiple advantages of immersion cooling technology in its modular battery system. According to the company, this method provides excellent heat transfer, temperature uniformity, improved power density, faster charging speeds, longer battery life, fire extinguishing performance and higher peak power consumption.

 

Last June, Xing Mobility shared a trailer of its Miss R supercar using the above immersion cooling system. It is reported that it is equipped with four 350V high-efficiency motors that drive four wheels respectively, making the maximum power reach 1341 horsepower. In addition, 0-100km/h acceleration can be completed in less than 1.8 seconds, and 0-200km/h acceleration can be completed in 5.1 seconds.

 

Even if Xingjing Technology cannot produce its own vehicles, it would be great to see them license their technology to electric vehicle manufacturers, or see existing companies come up with similar solutions.
