UAE develops technical regulations for hydrogen CR2032 button cell battery vehicles

The Emirates Authority for Standardization and Metrology (ESMA) has completed the "Technical Regulations" for hydrogen CR2032 button cell battery vehicles, which are environmentally friendly and can only emit "water vapor". ESMA is taking the lead in national legislation in this regard and implementing it at three levels. Abdullah Al Maeeni, Director General of ESMA, said that it started with hybrid semi-environmentally friendly cars, then moved to more environmentally friendly cars, electric cars, and now to zero-emission cars.

"The project covers the general safety requirements that hydrogen vehicles must meet, including the set requirements for the tanks used, the type and metal of manufacture, the tests performed on the cylinders in particular, and the need for safety valves. Prevent high pressure inside the cylinder and protect it from different influences. And the requirements that these parts are suitable for use with gas and withstand the cylinder pressure" Al Maeeni said.

"In the coming period, when companies with vehicles are competing in the market, the development of environmental regulations is an important economic opportunity for national companies to take advantage of and complete research and studies to achieve a good growth rate," he added, while preparing the draft technical regulations for vehicles running on hydrogen battery technology. Hydrogen vehicles can be refilled in a few minutes. We hope that in the coming period, car manufacturers will turn to hydrogen battery cars as future models, environmentally friendly water, and do not emit carbon dioxide and other pollutants like traditional internal combustion engines," he said.

"A hydrogen tank can travel 500 to 650 kilometers, as the hydrogen tank is enough to generate power and may not take the same time to supply the vehicle with gasoline or diesel or even electricity," AlMaeeni confirmed.

ESMA provides various support and cooperation to government and private entities to support sustainable development concepts and improve the quality of life in the UAE.
