Pyrometallurgy, on the other hand, uses high - temperature processes to melt the battery components and separate the metals based on their melting points and chemical properties.

Some polymer electrolytes can be recycled through solvent extraction or thermal decomposition methods to recover the polymers and other additives. These recycled materials can then be reused in the production of new batteries or other products, reducing the demand for virgin materials.

Proper treatment of the waste generated during the recycling process, such as the disposal of wastewater and the management of hazardous gases, is essential to prevent environmental pollution.
