Lithium metal has been experimented with in batteries for decades, but some fundamental issues have hindered its development.

The matching positive electrode material can be oxygen, elemental sulfur, metal oxides and other substances. lithium ion battery cells 18650 are one of the most promising next-generation high-energy-density storage devices capable of meeting the stringent requirements of emerging industries. However, direct application of metallic lithium may bring safety issues, poor rate and cycle performance, and even crushing of the anode material inside the battery. The main reasons include dendrite growth caused by heterogeneous deposition caused by large polarization and strong electric fields, extremely active metallic lithium, and infinite changes in lithium volume during cycling. These shortcomings seriously hinder the commercialization of LMBs.
