A few days ago, Texas Instruments (TI) announced that at the Bluetooth Low Energy Technology Conference held in Munich, Germany, it will display the preview version of the world's first button battery for the new Bluetooth Low Energy open standard, which uses TI's upcoming CC2540 single-mode chip system. Bluetooth low energy technology supports a variety of applications such as sports and fitness equipment, healthcare, home or office, and mobile accessories, enabling the use of coin cell batteries and energy harvesting solutions. By using a tiny button battery, it can achieve an ultra-long working time of more than one year without charging.
TI Bluetooth Low Energy Technology
TI supports dual-mode and single-mode solutions:
o The dual-mode device can communicate with both the original Bluetooth device and the Bluetooth low-power device, and supports two protocols;
oSingle-mode devices support only Bluetooth low energy products and are optimized for low-power, low-cost applications.
TI demonstrated the world's first single-chip single-mode Bluetooth low energy device supporting controller, host and application in a 6 mm x 6 mm package.
