  2 Pyrometallurgical process

  Pyrometallurgical treatment of waste dry batteries is a process of oxidizing, reducing, decomposing, volatilizing and condensing metals and their compounds in waste dry batteries at high temperatures. The fire method is divided into two categories: traditional atmospheric metallurgy and vacuum metallurgy. All the operations of atmospheric metallurgy are carried out in the atmosphere, while the vacuum method is carried out in a closed negative pressure environment. Most experts believe that the fire method is the best way to deal with waste dry batteries, and it is effective for the amount of mercury recovered.

  Since all the operations of the atmospheric pressure metallurgical method for treating waste dry batteries are carried out in the atmosphere, the air participates in the operation, which has the disadvantages of long process and heavy pollution. Therefore, people have developed a vacuum method. The vacuum method is based on the fact that each component of the waste dry battery has different vapor pressures at the same temperature, and through evaporation and condensation in a vacuum, they are separated from each other at different temperatures, thereby realizing comprehensive recycling. When evaporating, the components with high vapor pressure enter into the steam, and the components with low vapor pressure stay in the raffinate or residue. When condensing, the steam condenses into liquid or solid at a lower temperature.
