If the particle size of silica reaches more than 5 nm, the reaction with Lithium hydroxide will cause gelation, which not only requires a long time of degumming, but also cannot be made into transparent lithium silicate aqueous solution.

Obviously, the concentration of SiO2 in the lithium silicate aqueous solution is not enough, and a large amount of water will have to be removed during concentration; If it exceeds 7%, even if the prepared active silicon dioxide aqueous solution reacts with Lithium hydroxide immediately, it will also significantly increase viscosity or gelation at the moment before reaction, so that transparent lithium silicate aqueous solution cannot be produced in a short time. Therefore, the concentration of silica is preferably between 2 and 5% by weight.
