To mitigate this risk, most lithium batteries are equipped with built-in protection circuits that monitor the voltage and current and prevent overcharging and over-discharging.
Another safety aspect is related to the manufacturing quality and design. High-quality materials and precise manufacturing processes are essential to ensure the integrity of the battery components. For example, a defect in the separator can increase the likelihood of an internal short circuit.
