12V27A battery technology has made a major breakthrough

 

The performance of mobile device main control has been advancing by leaps and bounds in the past two years, but as a price, the excessive energy consumption has also made mobile phone manufacturers and consumers have doubts: charging once a day is the limit. If an oversized battery is used for battery life, it will undoubtedly affect the thickness and weight of the device. What's worse is that the life of lithium batteries is mostly only 500 charge and discharge cycles, and even the top long-life batteries (such as LG Chem or SONY's related products) can only do 850 times. Basically, they are on the verge of being scrapped after 1-2 years of use. This situation will also cause worse environmental problems in some devices that use a large number of 12V27A battery packs (such as Tesla's electric vehicles).

 

Safe and reliable, but also non-toxic and harmless: 12V27A battery technology has finally made a breakthrough

 

Just last week, researchers from the US Army Research Laboratory said that they have successfully developed a "water-salt" lithium-ion battery that not only provides the same life and efficiency as traditional lithium-ion batteries, but also does not require the use of toxic and environmentally harmful chemicals such as sulfuric acid, lead and cadmium.

 

Safe, reliable and non-toxic: 12V27A battery technology finally breaks through

 

Researchers believe that using a high concentration of aqueous electrolyte can change the chemical reaction inside the battery and create a thin protective film on the anode electrode. This protective film is a key point to maintain battery stability and achieve the same high performance as current lithium-ion batteries. Therefore, this is a remarkable breakthrough.

 

According to Edward Shaffer, director of the energy and power department of the U.S. Army Research Laboratory, this discovery may lead to safer chemistry and environmentally friendly batteries. For example, he said that the application of the new battery will include equipment carried by soldiers, and it can also be used to reduce the space occupied by energy storage devices, such as special equipment with limited space.

 

In addition, a research team from the University of Maryland also participated in this study. The team was led by Chunsheng Wang, an associate professor in the Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering. They said that this work can double the voltage/power of the battery, which represents a major advancement in the history of researchers in aqueous batteries. Their research results will be published in the journal Science.
