Researchers propose new technology to improve 12V27A battery anode materials

 

Batteries are used every day as energy storage solutions in a wide range of applications. Considering the rapid growth of the electric vehicle market, the search for advanced battery solutions has always been of interest. Lithium-ion batteries (Li-Ion) are commonly used in small electronic devices and electric vehicles. The biggest advantage of this type of battery is its high energy density (small size, high energy), and it is an important part of many applications. Now, researchers are focusing on increasing their battery capacity and improving battery design to increase battery charge times.

 

 

According to foreign media reports, researchers from Heidelberg University in Germany and West Pomeranian University of Technology in Poland recently concluded that metal oxide nanocrystals (tin oxide SnO2 and manganese oxide MnO2) can significantly increase battery capacity. . When using this material, the battery can store three times more energy than commonly used graphite anode batteries. Metal anodes are inorganic compounds that are relatively easy to manufacture, but they have the disadvantages of rapid wear and large volume changes during battery charging/discharging.

 

 

The researchers solved this problem by surrounding a 3D graphene structure with metal oxide nanocrystals. Graphene provides better robustness, connectivity and porosity to tin oxide anodes, which have better electron and ion mobility inside them.

 

 

Researchers propose a new technology to improve anode materials for lithium-ion batteries. The study shows that metal oxide nanocrystals (tin oxide SnO2 and manganese oxide MnO2) combined with hollow carbon spheres (HCS) can significantly improve the electrochemical performance of batteries. The research results are very good. After 45 cycles of charge and discharge, the battery capacity reaches 370mAh/g (HCS/SnO2) and 266mAh/g (HCS/MnO2). Without the metal oxide nanocrystal anode, the battery capacity is only 188mAh/g. After 100 charge-discharge cycles, the results still show that the battery has excellent long-term cycle stability.

 

 

Generally speaking, a material may be a good solution for lithium-ion batteries, but it may not be suitable for other types of batteries. But the application of metal oxide materials in the anode can also provide good performance for sodium-ion batteries (Sodium Ions batteries), which are cheaper and may be a substitute for lithium ions.

 

 

Metal oxides are cost-effective materials and, given that they can be used in conjunction with mass-produced hollow carbon spheres, this anode material solution has great potential for commercial application.
