China has no technology for electric vehicle CR927 battery? Being unknown does not mean that there is no achievement

Now when we talk about new energy vehicles, the first thing that comes to mind is electric vehicles. However, when we initially hoped to reduce carbon emissions by changing the energy used by cars, the first thing that came into our view was actually hydrogen energy. The reason is simple. The only product after hydrogen combustion is water, which can completely solve the problem of carbon emissions. However, the cost of hydrogen extraction and storage has remained high, and the technological breakthroughs are not as fast as electric vehicles. Therefore, we temporarily shelved the hydrogen energy plan. However, temporarily shelving does not mean that we will not consider it. While developing electric vehicles, we have also seen that many overseas car companies have not given up their hopes for hydrogen energy. As the Chinese electric vehicle market gradually stabilizes, hydrogen energy has also been mentioned again by us. From fuel to fuel cells When we first tried to replace fuel oil with hydrogen energy, the idea was very simple. We just replaced the fuel directly. Hydrogen has a higher calorific value than gasoline. At the same time, after verification by BMW, hydrogen can be directly used as fuel to maintain engine operation without changing the existing engine structure. Moreover, BMW not only verified it, but also put it into action. It has produced a 7 Series sedan that was converted to hydrogen energy, as well as a concept car called H2R, which appeared at major auto shows that year, and once made people think that this is what the future car will look like. However, in order to ensure that the hydrogen-fueled car can run far enough, the hydrogen needs to be compressed into liquid and stored on the car, which sounds dangerous and costly, which may be one of the reasons why BMW's project finally came to nothing. Since it is not feasible to use hydrogen directly as fuel, and it is a pity to give up such a clean energy, people began to think about other possibilities of hydrogen. At this time, fuel cells became people's second choice. The so-called fuel cell actually does not have combustion during the reaction process. Simply put, it uses a battery membrane to isolate the fuel and oxidant, connects the external circuit to two levels respectively, and the fuel and oxidant exchange charged ions through the battery membrane to generate current, thus achieving the effect of power generation. In other words, although the fuel cell is called a battery, it is not a container for storing electricity, but a power generation device. In the direction of fuel cells, although there are still uncontrollable costs, at least we can see hope. From the Hyundai Tucson FCV (Fuel Cell Vehicle) with an initial price of 850,000 RMB, to the Toyota Mirai, Honda's Clarity, and the Hyundai Nexo that will be coming soon, we have seen the step-by-step growth and evolution of mass-produced hydrogen fuel cell vehicles. Although there are still many shortcomings, from the perspective of sustainable development, fuel cells have fast refueling time and long driving range, which are still its advantages, and this is why we have been unwilling to give up. Obscurity does not mean no achievements. After determining the direction, the next step is to formulate a specific implementation route, and we already have ready-made experience in our hands, that is, subsidies. We have developed China's electric vehicle market into the world's largest market through subsidies, and at the same time, we have developed the technology related to CR927 battery to the world's first-class level through subsidies. Therefore, the development of fuel cells through subsidies is also a paved road. Perhaps you will say that from a technical point of view, China is far behind Japan, the United States, Europe and even South Korea in terms of fuel cells. How much effect can subsidies alone have? But don't forget that five years ago, our battery technology was also far behind others. It was driven by subsidies that we came to the forefront. Moreover, in terms of fuel cells, we are not completely backward. There is a company you may not have heard of, Dongyue Group, which once ended the dependence of China's chlor-alkali industry on overseas ion membranes. In November 2013, it officially became a strategic partner of AFCC Group and was responsible for the research and development of fuel cell membranes. You may not know AFCC Group, but you must know its three shareholders, Daimler, Ford and Ballard, the world's largest fuel cell manufacturer. In five years, China's fuel cell membranes have been running for more than 6,000 hours under simulated passenger car conditions, and apart from it, only the American GORE company can meet this standard. It can be seen that we have a certain foundation in fuel cell membranes, one of the core components of fuel cells. At the same time, since fuel cell vehicles are also driven by electricity, the achievements we have made in the field of electric control systems in electric vehicles also provide a shortcut for fuel cell vehicles. In this way, the most unconfident part of the fuel cell vehicle market has become the construction of supporting facilities, and these can be solved by subsidies. Of course, building a new energy vehicle is obviously not a matter of solving a single technology, especially for fuel cell vehicles, which have the "fuel tank" of a fuel vehicle and the battery of an electric vehicle. At the same time, both are the main driving forms of the vehicle, and there are many problems to be solved. However, for fuel cells, China's subsidy policy may continue until 2025, which means that we have enough running distance to catch up with others, and even if we are not far behind at the starting point, there is a great chance to overtake. In the end, although Elon Musk said that fuel cells are a "stupid technology", we still see that countries such as Japan and South Korea regard it as a national strategic research and development. From a long-term perspective, fuel cells can indeed achieve sustainable development. If we want to continue to stabilize our position in the new energy field, launching our own mass-produced fuel cell vehicles as soon as possible has become our next task. As the former Minister of Science and Technology Wan Gang mentioned in the article "Promoting the Healthy Development of the New Energy Vehicle Industry" published in the People's Daily, pure electric vehicles still have shortcomings in terms of driving range and charging time, and the expansion of fuel cells can solve this problem to a certain extent. What is certain is that we are more confident in fuel cells than electric vehicles.
