Recently, Phoenix Auto came to the factory that produces the "heart" of the BAIC New Energy E150EV second-generation car - ternary lithium 18650 battery 3500mah lithium. The power battery system of the Beijing E150EV second-generation new energy vehicle, which will be launched at the end of the year, will use ternary lithium 18650 battery 3500mah lithium from South Korea's SK Group.

 

The person in charge of BAIC New Energy said that at present, domestic new energy vehicle manufacturers are increasingly favoring power lithium 18650 battery 3500mah lithium with ternary materials as positive electrode materials, and the traditional lithium iron phosphate power battery market is gradually being eroded. Wang Binggang, leader of the Ministry of Science and Technology's "863 Plan" Energy-saving and New Energy Vehicle Major Project Supervision and Consulting Expert Group, said in an interview with Phoenix Auto that the development of lithium iron phosphate 18650 battery 3500mah lithium has reached a bottleneck period, and ternary lithium 18650 battery 3500mah lithium will replace lithium iron phosphate 18650 battery 3500mah lithium. This will be the historical trend of the development of new energy vehicle power 18650 battery 3500mah lithium.

 

"The safety of early ternary lithium 18650 battery 3500mah lithium was very poor, but now this aspect has been improved a lot. Lin Yi, an expert of the National 863 Program and deputy chief engineer of BAIC Group, said that the structure of ternary lithium battery adopts aluminum-plastic soft packaging, which is different from the metal shell of liquid battery. Once a safety hazard occurs, the battery will only swell at most, and will not cause danger, so the safety performance is good; secondly, although the ternary material is light in weight, it has a large capacity and a higher energy ratio. Taking the E150EV second-generation car as an example, the ternary lithium battery currently used is 40% lighter than the steel shell lithium battery of the same capacity, and 20% lighter than the aluminum shell battery, and the energy density can reach 150Wh per kilogram, or even 200Wh. This also means that although the battery pack capacity of the E150EV second-generation car has increased by 4.8 degrees, the weight of the whole vehicle has not increased but decreased; thirdly, the internal resistance of the ternary lithium battery is small, which can directly reduce the heat generation of the battery, and the power utilization efficiency can be maximized.
