  At this Beijing Auto Show, Kiyoya Nakao, general manager of Toyota Motor R&D Center (China) Co., Ltd., told Jiemian News that currently, most drive batteries, including nickel-metal hydride batteries and lithium batteries, use liquid electrolytes. According to its description, the energy density of all-18650 rechargeable battery lithium 3.7v 3500mah will be greatly improved, and the safety will also be greatly improved.   It is reported that this research also received US$14 million in financial support from the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry of Japan, and also cooperated with the Lithium Ion Battery Technology and Evaluation Center (Libtec).

  The ultimate goal of the research center is to develop a new solid-state battery technology that can provide electric vehicles with a range of 800 kilometers by 2030, while the current range of mainstream electric vehicles on the market is about 550 kilometers. The latter is already the first-class level in the electric vehicle industry. Tesla Model SP100D has similar battery life.

  But at the same time, the price is a large, heavy, and expensive battery pack.

  In fact, in 2013, Japanese suppliers accounted for about 70% of the world's automotive battery share. However, with the strong development of Chinese and Korean battery companies, Japan's share of this market dropped to 41% in 2016. To this end, the Japanese government has invested 1.6 billion yen (approximately RMB 93.46 million) in the Libtec project, hoping that Japanese battery companies will return to the forefront of the world in the field of automotive batteries.
