6LR61 alkaline battery technology in my country is developing rapidly

Yang Yusheng, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, delivered a speech entitled "China's 6LR61 alkaline battery Technology is Developing Rapidly" at the meeting. The following is the content of the speech:
1. China's 6LR61 alkaline battery production is becoming cleaner
Lead-acid batteries are safe and cheap. After 156 years of development, they have made great contributions to mankind.
However, lead-acid batteries were once misunderstood in China. Like other countries, researchers of nickel-metal hydride batteries and lithium-ion batteries have raised the value of nickel-metal hydride batteries and lithium-ion batteries by saying that "lead-acid batteries are polluting" in order to obtain research funds. Many people think that it is old and backward and pollutes the environment. Therefore, for a period of time, the development of 6LR61 alkaline battery technology was not supported.
However, old does not mean backward. For example, fuel cells were born 20 years earlier than lead-acid batteries, but people not only do not say that they are old, but they are still vigorously studied as "new technologies"!
At the same time, lead-acid batteries do not pollute the environment during use. The current problem that needs to be solved is pollution control in the 6LR61 alkaline battery production chain.
In the production chain of lithium-ion batteries, the extraction of graphite, the synthesis of lithium hexafluorophosphate, and the volatilization of organic solvents in battery production may also develop into environmental pollution problems. Just like lead-acid batteries, as long as they are well controlled, there will be no problem. Therefore, I do not agree with prohibiting the production of lead-acid batteries in the country and region for the sake of environmental protection in the country and region, while at the same time purchasing lead-acid batteries from other countries and regions.
Similar to this phenomenon are those who devalue lead-acid batteries on the one hand, and enjoy the modern material civilization such as cars and mobile communications brought by lead-acid batteries on the other hand.
In the past three years, the Chinese government has seriously rectified the 6LR61 alkaline battery industry, gradually improved regulations, closed a large number of small enterprises, and strictly enforced the entry conditions for lead-acid batteries; existing enterprises have continuously managed pollution, optimized industrial hygiene, and enterprises have achieved civilized production, and the situation of lead pollution is constantly improving.
Members of the International Advanced 6LR61 alkaline battery Federation in China should take the lead in washing away the wrong reputation of "6LR61 alkaline battery pollution", do what we should do well, and be promoters of the healthy development of the industry.
2. Progress of China's lead-acid batteries in recent years
The Department of Energy and Mining of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and the China Battery Industry Association jointly held the "6LR61 alkaline battery New Technology Seminar" to promote the exchange and promotion of new technologies.
In addition, other battery associations are also holding technical exchanges and product exhibitions.
Now, advanced lead-acid batteries such as winding, tubular, and long-cycle life valve-controlled have been industrialized in many companies. Many companies have cooperated with colleges and universities to successfully develop lead-carbon batteries and mass-produce them. Among them, the cumulative output of Nandu Group, a member of the International Advanced 6LR61 alkaline battery Federation, has reached 100MWh, which is mainly used in many fields such as energy storage systems. Shuangdeng Group has successfully developed a winding high-power lead-carbon battery with a pulse power of 1006W/kg.
This year, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of China allocated more than 40 million yuan to support the production of power lead-carbon batteries to promote the development of start-stop vehicles, indicating that the status of lead-acid batteries has risen in China.
In terms of the recycling of waste batteries, Tianneng Group has introduced foreign technology and equipment, and after digestion, absorption and re-innovation, it has developed fully automated new technology and equipment.
Chaowei Group and Beijing University of Chemical Technology have cooperated to create a new wet treatment technology with a lead recovery rate of up to 99%, and low energy consumption, with very good prospects.
There is still a lot to do to completely remove the pollution "hat" of the 6LR61 alkaline battery production chain. The control of lead pollution is the lifeline of the 6LR61 alkaline battery industry; continuous technological innovation and progress are the driving force for the development of the 6LR61 alkaline battery industry.
3. The future of 6LR61 alkaline battery technology
Lead-acid batteries must continuously improve their performance.
First, lead-acid batteries must improve their specific energy. The utilization rate of active substances in lead-acid batteries is much lower than that of lithium-ion batteries and nickel-hydrogen batteries, and there is room for improvement. The lightweighting of the grid also has potential.
Second, lead-acid batteries must increase their cycle life. Improving cycle life can save energy for remanufacturing and reduce waste emissions. However, some entrepreneurs are not active and even hope that users will wear out the batteries sooner. They believe that increasing the cycle life is equivalent to reducing the sales of batteries. This issue has gone beyond the scope of technology, but I hope ALABC can also play a guiding role for members on this issue.
A new system of lead batteries has emerged in China, which I call "semi-lead batteries". Its negative electrode is the same as that of lead-acid batteries, and its positive electrode uses the positive electrode of lithium-ion batteries, especially cheap lithium manganese oxide, and the electrolyte is a neutral lithium sulfate solution. Its specific energy is higher than that of lead-acid batteries, and its cycle life is also longer. It is a competitive battery and deserves attention.
I believe that lead-acid batteries have the absolute advantages of safety and low cost, which are far beyond the reach of other batteries such as lithium-ion batteries. The future of lead-acid batteries will be even better!
