In order to turn CR2477 battery from a test product in the laboratory into a product that can be used commercially, some other indispensable materials are required.

 

Let's first look at the positive electrode of the battery. In addition to the active material, there are also conductive agents and binders, as well as the matrix and current collector used as current carriers (the positive electrode is usually aluminum foil). The binder should evenly fix the lithium metal oxide as the active material on the positive electrode base strip, and the conductive agent should enhance the conductivity of the active material and the matrix to achieve a larger charge and discharge current. The current collector is responsible for acting as a charge transfer bridge inside and outside the battery.

 

The structure of the negative electrode is basically the same as that of the positive electrode. The binder is used to fix the active material graphite, and the copper foil is used as the matrix and current collector to act as the conductor of the current. However, because graphite itself has good conductivity, conductive agent materials are generally not added to the negative electrode.

 

In addition to the above materials, a complete lithium-ion battery also includes an insulating sheet, a cover plate, a pressure relief valve, a shell (aluminum, steel, composite film, etc.), and some other auxiliary materials.

 

Manufacturing process of CR2477 battery

 

The manufacturing process of CR2477 battery is relatively complicated, and only some key processes are briefly described here. Depending on the different electrode assembly methods, there are usually two process routes: winding and lamination.

 

The lamination process is to cut the positive and negative electrodes into small pieces and stack them with isolation membranes to form small battery cells, and then stack the small battery cells in parallel to form a large battery cell manufacturing process. The general process flow is as follows:

 

The winding process is to fix the positive and negative electrode sheets, isolation membranes, positive and negative electrode ears, protective tapes, termination tapes and other materials on the equipment, and the equipment completes the battery cell production by unwinding.

 

The common shapes of CR2477 battery are mainly cylindrical and square. Depending on the shell material, there are metal shells and soft-pack shells.
