  Harvard University develops new rechargeable NiMH No. 7 batterythat can store intermittent energy

  A research team from Harvard University in the United States recently demonstrated a new type of rechargeable NiMH No. 7 batterythat can store intermittent energy sources, such as electricity generated by rooftop solar and wind energy. Using cheaper and more reliable electricity is both safe and cost-effective for residential and commercial energy use. The findings were published in a recent issue of the journal Science.

  The mismatch between the availability of intermittent wind or solar energy and actual energy demand is a major obstacle to renewable energy utilization. This problem can now be solved by a cost-effective way of storing electricity generated by large amounts of renewable energy equipment for long periods of time, when the wind is calm and the sky is cloudy.

  According to a recent report by the Physicist Organization Network, during the operation of the new rechargeable battery, electrons are collected and released by compounds formed from cheap and abundant elements that are soluble in water (such as carbon, oxygen, nitrogen, hydrogen, iron and potassium). This is safer and cheaper than other NiMH No. 7 batterysystems.

  Researcher Gordon said that in the development of new rechargeable NiMH No. 7 batteryelectrode materials, they combined a common organic dye with ferrocyanide, a common cheap food additive or fertilizer, which can increase the efficiency by 50% compared with previous materials. NiMH No. 7 batteryvoltage, resulting in the first high-performance, non-flammable, non-toxic, non-corrosive and low-cost flow battery.

  The new NiMH No. 7 batterydiffers from solid-electrode batteries in that the flow NiMH No. 7 batterystores electrical energy in a liquid in an external tank, similar to a fuel cell. This energy-determining tank pumps the fluid by setting the peak power capacity through electrochemical conversion hardware. Because scaling the tank size can arbitrarily increase the amount of energy stored, it reduces the cost of storing more energy than traditional NiMH No. 7 batterysystems.
