Domestic and foreign institutions join hands to strengthen battery 18650 research and development

According to foreign media reports, Western University in Canada is working with Chinese researchers to develop batteries for electric vehicles. On the morning of April 10th local time, executives of China Automotive Battery Research Institute Co. Ltd. (China Automotive Battery Research Institute Glabat) and Ed Holder, mayor of London, Ontario, Canada, attended the official opening ceremony of Glabat battery 18650 Inc. Glabat battery 18650 is the only R&D-based high-tech company established in North America by China Automotive Battery Research Institute Co. Ltd. (China Automotive Battery Research Institute established China's first manufacturing innovation center-National Power Battery Innovation Center). According to executives, the cooperation aims to strengthen research on solid-state batteries. Solid-state batteries may become an alternative to traditional lithium-ion batteries. The cooperation was praised by the mayor of London and Kapil Lakhotia, chairman of the London Economic Development Corporation. Kapil Lakhotia said that the application of batteries is not limited to electric vehicles. "Now, the world is in a battery research competition." Professor Andy Sun, director of the Canadian Research Institute at Western University, believes that solid-state batteries are the "next generation of batteries" and are "safer, can support longer driving range, charge quickly, and will be cheaper in the future." The research project is the latest project in the collaboration between Western University and Guolian Automotive Power Battery Research Institute. Since 2017, the two parties have shared a research laboratory and a research park that opened in 2018.
