British university develops new electric lithium 3400mah 3.7v 18650 battery that can be recharged by adding water

 

According to foreign media reports, a research team at the University of Glasgow in the UK said that it has found the perfect solution for future electric vehicles: a battery that can run on rust and can be recharged by adding water.

 

Researchers in Glasgow introduced a battery that is different from ordinary types: using metal oxides, which they call "strange rust". When water is added to the battery, it can be charged. When the power is exhausted, the driver uses a suction nozzle to clean the rust and then refills the battery with water.

 

Some European countries plan to promote the transformation of automobile electrification. The challenge is to find a sustainable way to keep electric vehicles running for a long time. This includes the construction of charging station infrastructure and how to define a better range of charging stations. According to the BBC, this battery-powered car will be charged at charging stations like today's gasoline-powered cars.

 

Professor Cronin explained that charging time seems to be an almost insurmountable obstacle to the popularization of electric vehicles. Even charging vehicles through super charging stations requires half an hour to 45 minutes of waiting. The benefit of this battery is that drivers no longer have to wait for hours to recharge, but can simply fill up and leave, just like traditional electric cars.

 

However, Professor Lee Cronin, leader of the research team, said that it is relatively easy to produce this concept battery, but expanding it to use in a car and then mass production is the real challenge. Nevertheless, he believes that once successful, its higher power transmission capacity will make the battery have a wider range of uses.
