18650 battery 1800mah.TOTO and four other Japanese companies join forces to develop new fuel cells

release time:2024-01-04 Hits:     Popular:AG11 battery

The new company, jointly invested by Nippon NGK, Totoko, Nippon Special Ceramics, and Noritake Co., Ltd., is scheduled to be established on December 1. Set up an office at the Komaki Factory of Nippon Special Ceramics (located in Komaki City, Aichi Prefecture) and engage in the research and development, manufacturing and sales of solid oxide hydrogen fuel cells. Details such as legal representative and capital contribution ratio will be finalized in the future. The number of employees is expected to be 50 to 100.

Ceramic technology is the strength of the four companies, which had previously independently promoted the development of solid oxide fuel cells. Solid oxide fuel cells use hydrogen to generate electricity without emitting carbon dioxide and have low environmental impact. On the other hand, it was difficult to achieve mass production, and Toto abolished the relevant professional departments about two years ago.

The four companies held a joint press conference in Tokyo on the same day. Toto President Madoka Kitamura said that "technology development has been promoted for many years, but it is difficult to achieve mass production alone." Taku Oshima, President of Nippon NGK, emphasized that "through sharing experience, the technical level of solid oxide fuel cells will be further improved." Noritake's president, Hiroshi Kato, said, "As one company, there are limits in terms of investment burden and other aspects, but if we work together, the development field will expand."

All four companies originated from the Morimura Group (now Morimura Corporation). The activities of the Morimura Group were limited to information liaison meetings with the public relations department and others, and there had been no direct business contact before. In addition, capital relationships such as mutual shareholdings are almost non-existent. A sense of crisis about the future drove the actions of four companies.

Shinichi Odo, chairman and president of Nippon Special Ceramics, said, "In an era when cooperation has become a matter of course, uniting as the Morimura Group is a natural trend." Said that "we hope to gather forces to promote the mass production of solid oxide fuel cells."
