  The advantages of lithium batteries are as follows:

  1. High working voltage. The standard working voltage of a single rechargeable battery should be three times that of Ni-Cd and Ni-H rechargeable batteries.

  2. Energy density: The actual energy densities that can be achieved at present are 100-125Wh/kg and 240-300Wh/L (2 times Ni-Cd and Ni-MH). With the development of technology in the future, the energy density can be increased to 150Wh/kg and 400Wh/L.

  3. The circulation system has a long life, which can generally be achieved 500 or even 1,000 times. For household appliances that charge and discharge with small currents, the service life of the rechargeable battery will double the competitiveness of the household appliances.

  4. Good safety, no pollution, and no memory effect. As a lithium battery with the original name of Li-ion, metallic lithium is easy to form twins and cause short-circuit failure, thus reducing its application scope: the key to Li-ion The disadvantage is that it contains cadmium, lead, mercury and other elements that pollute the environment: Ni-Cd batteries with some processes (such as calcined type) have "memory effects", which seriously limits the use of batteries. But Li-ion doesn't have any problems in these aspects.

  5. The self-discharge of lithium batteries is small. After one month of storage of fully charged liquid lithium at room temperature, the lithium battery life rate is about 10%, which is much smaller than 25-30% of Ni-Cd and 30-35% of Ni. MH.

  6. Quickly charge the battery. The short-circuit capacity of a 1C battery can reach more than 80%.

  7. The working temperature range is very wide, reaching -25~45°C. With the improvement of lithium battery electrolyte and battery cathode materials, it can be expanded to -40~70°C.

  In addition, lithium batteries also have some disadvantages, such as:

  First, the cost of rechargeable batteries is higher. The main reason is that the battery cathode material LiCoO2 is expensive (less Co resources) and the electrolyte solution system cannot be purified.

  2. It is not easy to cause large current charge and discharge. The internal resistance of lithium battery packs is larger than that of other types of lithium battery packs, including electrolyte solution systems. Therefore, the requirements for charging and discharging current intensity are small. Generally, the charging and discharging current is in the following range, which is only applicable to household appliances with small and medium-sized currents.

  3. Route control must be maintained. Overcharging protection: Overcharging of rechargeable batteries will destroy the positive structure, affecting performance and service life; at the same time, overcharging will cause the lithium battery electrolyte to dissolve and the internal pressure to be too high, causing problems such as liquid leakage; therefore, the constant current source must be used. Recharge the battery; B. Loss of power protection: Over-discharge will cause the active material to be irreparable, so a protective line must be used.
