By 2020, such upwardly compatible battery systems will provide 35% more energy and can also improve the range of electric vehicles.
Currently, each battery pack of the eCitaro has a storage capacity of 25 kWh. Each battery pack of the second-generation battery system will be able to store 33 kWh, meaning that each vehicle maintains the same structural space, weight and upward compatibility. At the same time, the battery capacity can be increased by 35%, from 243 kWh to 330 kWh.
All thanks to the flexible system architecture AKASOL provides customers with. According to Daimler Buses, this technological leap, combined with other factors, will help increase the vehicle's range to approximately 200 kilometers, and ideally up to 250 kilometers.
