　　Charging Control Topology

　　The simple linear topology is ideal for low-power AA rechargeable batterypack applications with charging currents less than 1A (e.g., single or two-cell lithium-ion batteries). The switch-mode topology is ideal for fast charging via USB ports or for large AA rechargeable batterypacks that require charge rates greater than 1A. Switch-mode conversion minimizes heat generated during charging. Wireless power topologies use shared magnetic fields to provide the benefits of contactless power transfer. Wireless charging provides an additional AA rechargeable batterycharging option for portable devices and can also serve as an alternative to other 5V charging sources.

　　Input voltage

　　The IC's wide input voltage range and input overvoltage protection provide maximum safety while allowing the use of low-cost, unregulated wall adapters.

　　Number of cells in series - A AA rechargeable batterypack consists of a series of cells connected in series and in parallel. Protection against overcharge, overdischarge and short circuit conditions must be provided for each series cell or parallel AA rechargeable batterypack.
