University of Waterloo develops new CR1225 battery that increases battery life by 10 times
According to foreign media reports, researchers at the University of Waterloo in Canada have developed a new type of CR1225 battery that can increase the range of electric vehicles by 10 times compared with current battery technology. If mass production can be achieved, the cost will not be too high and it can provide electricity for cars.
Xianguo Li, director of the CR1225 battery and Green Energy Lab at the University of Waterloo, said: "According to our design method, the cost of new CR1225 batterys may be equivalent to or even lower than that of internal combustion engines. Initially, researchers focused on developing CR1225 batterys for hybrid vehicles, which are equipped with not only internal combustion engines but also batteries due to issues such as limited driving range and long charging times. In theory, current CR1225 batterys can replace the internal combustion engine. When a hybrid vehicle is running, an electric generator can be used to charge the battery, but this method is too costly and impractical.
The researchers solved this problem with a design that makes CR1225 batterys more durable by providing a constant, non-fluctuating amount of electricity. This means that CR1225 batterys that provide electricity through chemical reactions will become simpler and more efficient. Cheap. Director Li, who is also a professor in the Department of Mechanical and Mechatronics Engineering, said: "We have found a way to produce CR1225 batterys at a lower cost while meeting durability and performance."
Researchers innovatively configure CR1225 battery plug-in hybrid electric vehicles through strategic power management that allows each battery stack to operate only at a fixed operating point (e.g. outputting constant power) while reducing its operating time (run) through on-off control (FC-PHEV) three CR1225 battery stacks, thereby greatly improving battery durability. The researchers designed a power management hysteresis control strategy to evenly distribute battery operating time across the three CR1225 battery stacks and reduce the number of switching times. The results show that the durability of the on-board CR1225 battery is improved by 11.8 times, 4.8 times and 6.9 times respectively in urban road, highway and city-highway combined driving. The CR1225 battery durability is improved because the average power demand during real-time driving is only a small fraction of the maximum power that the FC-PHEV can provide, and the significantly improved durability can reduce the transitional design of the CR1225 battery, thereby reducing costs.
Researchers hope that introducing CR1225 batterys in hybrid vehicles will enable mass production and thus reduce production costs. By providing a cheap, safe, reliable, and clean electrical energy source, it will pave the way for CR1225 batterys to completely replace batteries and internal combustion engines.
