How to use separate equipment to build a BMS simulation system
Today, the most common method for charging pile protocol testing is to use real vehicles for verification testing. However, this method will bring many disadvantages. Here we will introduce a solution for a BMS simulation system built with separate equipment.
1.1 Disadvantages of real vehicle testing
Not representative: There are still differences in BMS communication protocols between mainstream electric vehicles on the market, and it is difficult to find a representative model.
Only functional verification can be done: using real vehicle testing can only verify whether the charging pile can achieve charging, and it is not yet known whether it strictly complies with the national standard 27930-2015.
Long discharge time: After long-term testing using a real vehicle, the electric vehicle battery will be fully charged, requiring a long power consumption process to discharge.
1.2BMS simulation system construction
In order to avoid the above problems caused by actual vehicle testing, we can build our own BMS simulation system. The system consists of the following types of equipment.
Protocol simulator: used to simulate BMS messages to communicate with charging piles in the national standard 27930-2015. Here, Zhiyuan Electronics' CANScope is used as an example. It not only has the function of a protocol simulator, but can also simultaneously perform protocol consistency detection, fault simulation, Complex functions such as signal quality assessment.
Voltage simulator: connected in parallel to the charging pile DC+ and DC-, with a relay in between to simulate the battery voltage. National Standard 27930-2015 mentions that during the charging configuration stage, the charging pile needs to detect that the battery voltage at the vehicle end is normal before entering the charging stage, otherwise charging will stop. Any DC power supply that can output the maximum and minimum voltage of the charger can be used.
K5 and K6 control units: drive the above relays and cooperate with the protocol simulator to realize the relay closing when the charging process enters the charging configuration stage, so that the charging pile detects the simulated battery voltage. This article recommends choosing a control unit composed of Zhiyuan Electronics' NDAM-9000 and NDAM-2808, which can be linked with CANScope through the network port.
1.3 Operation process
The equipment is connected to the charging pile according to the system block diagram.
Adjust the voltage simulator to output a constant voltage, and the output voltage is between the maximum output voltage and the minimum output voltage of the charging pile under test.
Start the charging pile protocol conformance test software ChargerBMS_Tester corresponding to CANScope, select the BMS simulation test, and configure the corresponding information mainly including simulated BMS parameters, K5 and K6 control unit enablement and IP address settings.
