  This time, the wireless power transmission system created by Fan Shanhui, a professor of electrical engineering at Stanford University, and his colleagues can achieve efficient power transmission at different distances within 1 meter. The system is made using the principle of parity time symmetry. Parity time symmetry is a concept in quantum mechanics that describes the basic theory of motion of microscopic objects. Generally speaking, symmetry in physics refers to the inherent invariance of a system under specific transformations. Parity time symmetry is space reflection. and invariance under time reversal. The system made by the team using this principle can keep the power transmission efficiency unchanged within a distance change range of about 1 meter.

  The research team conducted test experiments using LED lights. The results show that the LED lamp can be powered and can be moved away from the power source until the dividing point of about 1 meter, and the brightness remains unchanged during this process.

  In a corresponding news and review article, Geoffroy Roche, a scientist at the French Center for Scientific Research and the Ecole Supérieure des Physiques et Chemiques in Paris, said that this latest discovery is expected to be used to charge mobile devices or vehicles whose transmission distance and direction continue to change.

  Nowadays, people are no longer unfamiliar with wireless power transmission, and household devices such as mobile phones and electric toothbrushes seem to be able to implement it casually. However, they are always not ideal in terms of charging efficiency and distance between the power supply and the device. Today's new results provide the possibility to break through the above bottlenecks.
