Can lithium battery manufacturers help you understand how to use drone lithium batteries correctly?102450 lipo battery

release time:2023-08-18 Hits:     Popular:AG11 battery

Lithium battery manufacturers can help you understand the main reasons for lithium battery fires: for example, using or charging under high temperature conditions, overcharging, collision, puncture, etc. can all cause battery fires. High temperature, overcharging, over discharge, and prolonged full charge can also cause battery bulging problems and affect battery life.

Firstly, let's talk about the characteristics of lithium batteries: The working principle of lithium batteries is the process of lithium ion insertion and removal. When charging, lithium ions are generated at the positive electrode of the battery, and these lithium ions move to the negative electrode under the action of the electrolyte. When the battery is discharged, there are lithium ions embedded in the negative carbon layer, which fall off and then rotate back to the positive electrode.

Is it still unclear? Just let's understand the basic working principles. Below, I will introduce to you how to charge and discharge lithium batteries correctly

We need to know several values about lithium batteries. The full charge voltage of lithium polymer batteries is 4.2V, exceeding 4.2V is considered overcharge, and the termination discharge voltage is around 3V (different from each manufacturer). Below this voltage is considered overcharge.

Lithium battery overcharging, which means that continuing to charge while the battery is fully charged can cause changes in the structure of the positive electrode material inside the battery, resulting in a total capacity loss of the battery. Moreover, if it is more severe, it will also decompose and release oxygen, and the electrolyte will undergo violent chemical reactions, which may pose a risk of explosion.

If the overdischarge voltage of a lithium battery is too low, it can cause risks such as copper foil dissolution on the negative electrode. Due to the precipitation of dissolved copper elements on the negative electrode surface during charging, the resulting metal copper dendrites may pierce the separator, causing a short circuit between the positive and negative electrodes. Therefore, excessive discharge or low voltage can lead to complete failure of the lithium-ion battery.

Lithium batteries cannot be stored at full charge, mainly because the crystal activity inside the lithium battery is higher than that of lead-acid batteries. If stored at full charge for a long time, internal reactions will occur quickly. Once this chemical reaction occurs inside the lithium battery, it may cause problems such as bulging and deformation of the battery. There is currently no better solution to the storage problem of lithium batteries.
