According to industry insiders, both drone batteries and mobile phone batteries are lithium batteries, which are the power source of devices and have higher safety performance requirements. But there are differences between the two. Drone batteries have a significant characteristic compared to mobile phone batteries - discharge. Drone batteries need to be discharged to meet the usage requirements of drones in different environments. For example, during aerial photography, if encountering strong winds, the battery needs to be able to discharge large currents to make corresponding compensation and ensure the position of the drone. Due to different usage requirements, the lifespan of drone batteries is relatively short.

The discharge curve of the battery indicates that at the beginning of discharge, the voltage drops relatively quickly, but when discharged between 3.9-3.7V, the voltage drops not quickly. But once it drops to 3.7V, the speed of voltage drop will accelerate, and poor control can lead to over discharge. Mild cases can damage the battery, and severe cases can result in low voltage causing the machine to explode. Some mod enthusiasts tend to over discharge batteries every time because they have fewer batteries, which can be very short-lived. The strategy is to fly as little as possible for one minute, and fly for an additional cycle of lifespan. It is better to buy two more batteries than to fly them beyond their capacity limit each time. To fully utilize the battery alarm, it should be lowered as soon as it goes off.
2、 However, charging
1. Use a dedicated charger. This charger can be a lithium-ion or lithium polymer specific charger, and the two are very similar. Some mobile phone chargers can be used to charge lithium polymer batteries. This will not damage the battery.
2. Accurately set the number of battery cells in the battery pack. In the first few minutes of charging, you must carefully observe the display screen of the charger, which will display the number of batteries in the battery pack. If you are not clear, you should not charge or use a charger that you are familiar with.
3. For the first time charging a new lithium battery pack, check the voltage of each individual battery cell in the battery pack. The same work should be done every 10 charge and discharge thereafter. This is absolutely necessary, as a battery pack with unbalanced voltage will still burst when the number of batteries is correctly charged. If the voltage difference between individual batteries in the battery pack exceeds 0.1 volts, you should charge each battery separately to 4.2 volts to make it equal. If the voltage difference between individual battery cells exceeds 0.1 volts after each discharge, it indicates that your battery has malfunctioned and should be replaced.

5. Place the rechargeable battery and charger in a safe location.
6. Generally, without special instructions from the manufacturer, the charging current should not exceed 1C. Nowadays, batteries that support high current discharge also support charging with currents exceeding 1C. But it will greatly shorten the lifespan of the battery, and buying three batteries for alternating charging is more cost-effective than buying one battery and having to charge quickly.
