Why does a vehicle power lithium battery pack need a cooling system?
The efficiency of the cooling system is to maintain the optimal operating temperature of the power lithium battery based on the cooling or heating conditions of the power lithium battery, thereby improving the efficiency and service life of the power lithium battery.
The basic concepts of rechargeable batteries are analyzed. As is known in physics, battery charging specifically recharges the electronic devices within the battery, and charging and discharging is the consumption of the electronic devices within the rechargeable battery. Both charging and discharging are caused by excess of this activity, that is, the thermal effect. The thermal effect cannot be prevented unless there are no electronic devices inside the rechargeable battery, but this is impossible. Therefore, if the lithium battery has no cooling system at all, there may be Scientific principles are beyond everyone's cognitive ability to support.
From a technical perspective. Even with the discovery of new scientific principles and new materials, it is technically difficult to ensure a refrigeration system without power from LR6 battery. Since it took everyone decades to develop lithium-ion batteries, and only a few companies have mastered the key technology so far, it's unlikely from this perspective.
Overall, judging from the characteristics and overall structure of lithium-ion batteries, rechargeable batteries may not be able to solve the refrigeration system in the future. Therefore, future lithium-ion refrigeration systems will undoubtedly be simpler than today, but still not lacking.

At present, the thermal management methods of power lithium battery pack systems can be divided into four major categories. Of course, natural cooling is an active thermal management mode, while air cooling, liquid cooling, and DC are active. The key difference depends on different heat exchange materials.
natural cooling
There is no additional heat transfer equipment for natural cooling. For example, LFP lithium-ion electric vehicle systems are chosen for natural cooling in Qin, Tang, Song, e6, Tenggong, etc. According to statistics, in selected ternary lithium-ion systems, BYD will switch to water cooling and heat dissipation.
Air-cooled
Air cooling uses gas as the heat transfer material. There are two common types, the first is passive air cooling where the outside gas is immediately selected for heat transfer. The second is positive air cooling, which can be heated or cooled before entering the battery system software. In the early days, many Japanese and Korean pure electric vehicles adopted air-cooling mode.
liquid cooling
Liquid cooling uses automotive antifreeze (such as ethylene glycol) as the heat transfer material. Multi-channel heat transfer control circuits are used. For example, Volt has heat pipe radiator control circuit, central air conditioning control circuit, PTC control circuit, and rechargeable battery intelligent management system to adjust and convert according to the thermal management mode.
Directly cold
Direct cooling medium can absorb a large amount of heat during the gas-to-liquid phase conversion process. Compared with engine coolant, the heat transfer efficiency can be increased by more than three times. The direct cooling system has the advantages of compactness, light weight, and good performance. However, this system is a dual air-conditioning evaporator system. The system has no battery heating, no water maintenance, the condenser temperature is difficult to control, and the refrigerant system has a poor service life.
