Structure of lithium-ion batteries

 

The structure of lithium-ion batteries is divided into five parts, namely positive electrode, negative electrode, diaphragm, electrolyte and shell.

 

1. Positive electrode

 

In the overall constituent materials of lithium-ion batteries, positive electrode materials account for a large proportion, and the mass ratio of positive and negative electrode materials is 3:1~4:1. Because the performance of positive electrode materials directly affects the performance of lithium-ion batteries, their cost also directly determines the cost of batteries.

 

The important purpose of the diaphragm is to separate the positive and negative electrodes of the battery to prevent the two electrodes from contacting and short-circuiting. In addition, it also has the function of allowing electrolyte ions to pass through.

 

The main market-oriented diaphragm materials are polyolefin diaphragms mainly composed of polyethylene (PE) and polypropylene (PP). Among them, PE products are mainly made by wet process, and PP products are mainly made by dry process.

 

IV. Electrolyte

 

Lithium-ion battery electrolyte is the carrier of ion transmission in the battery. It is generally composed of lithium salt and organic solvent. The electrolyte plays the role of conducting ions between the positive and negative electrodes of lithium-ion batteries, which is the guarantee for lithium-ion batteries to obtain advantages such as high voltage and high specific energy.

 

Electrolyte is generally made of high-purity organic solvents, electrolyte lithium salts, necessary additives and other raw materials, prepared under certain conditions and in a certain proportion.

 

V. Shell

 

The shell of lithium-ion batteries includes hardware such as steel shell, aluminum shell, cover plate, pole ear, insulating tape, etc.
