Nickel Hydride Batteries.Lithium battery life

release time:2024-04-13 Hits:     Popular:AG11 battery

The battery life has two concepts of "dry storage life" and "wet storage life". It must be pointed out that these two concepts are only for the self-discharge size of the battery, not the actual service life of the battery. The true life of the battery refers to the length of time the battery is actually used.

For a primary battery, the battery life is a characterization of the operating time given the rated capacity (related to the size of the discharge rate).

For secondary batteries, the life of the battery is divided into charge and discharge cycle life and wet shelving service life.

The charge-discharge cycle life is an important parameter to measure the performance of the secondary battery. Subjected to a charge and discharge, called a cycle (or a cycle). Under a certain charge and discharge system, the number of charge and discharge times that the battery can withstand before the battery capacity drops to a certain specified value is called the charge and discharge cycle life of the secondary battery. The longer the charge-discharge cycle life, the better the performance of the battery. In the currently commonly used secondary batteries, the charge and discharge cycle life of cadmium-nickel batteries is 500 to 800 times, lead-acid batteries are 200 to 500 times, lithium-ion batteries are 600 to 1000 times, and zinc-silver batteries are very short, about 100 times.

The charge-discharge cycle life of the secondary battery is related to discharge depth, temperature, charge-discharge system and other conditions. The so-called "discharge depth" refers to the capacity released by the battery as a percentage of the rated capacity. By reducing the depth of discharge (i.e., "shallow discharge"), the charge-discharge cycle life of the secondary battery can be greatly extended.

Wet shelf life is also one of the important parameters to measure the performance of secondary batteries. It refers to the time when the battery begins to carry out the charge and discharge cycle after adding the electrolyte to the battery until the end of the charge and discharge cycle life (including the time when the battery is in the discharge state during the charge and discharge cycle). The longer the wet shelf life, the better the battery performance. In the current commonly used batteries, cadmium-nickel battery wet shelf life of 2 to 3 years, lead-acid battery 3 to 5 years, lithium-ion battery 5 to 8 years, zinc silver battery shortest, only about 1 year.
