  1. Hydrogen production: There are many methods for hydrogen production, the most common of which include water electrolysis and reforming of fossil fuels such as natural gas or methanol. Currently, more than 90% of global hydrogen is produced through the latter method, and the technology is very mature. The current factory workshop cost is about 2.5 yuan/m3, while achieving a 4.5 hour range on HYDrone-1800 only consumes about 3.5 m3 of hydrogen. However, currently hydrogen is still an industrial product, and considering costs such as packaging, compression, transportation, and distribution, the retail price of high-purity hydrogen is generally around 15 yuan/m3. Currently, many industrial countries are striving to achieve a hydrogen economy and society in the future, turning hydrogen into a consumer good with very low potential costs. Our country is vigorously promoting coal to hydrogen production, and the cost of hydrogen is approximately 0.8-1 yuan/m3.

  2. Fuel cells are expensive: platinum metal is used as a catalyst in the process of hydrogen fuel cell power generation. Platinum metal, also known as platinum, is a rare metal and is considered by many to be the main reason for the high cost of fuel cells. However, in fact, we have learned that the current usage of platinum in fuel cells is very low, and its material cost is not high at all. The value of platinum contained in fuel cells per kW of power is only about 100-200 RMB, and the current usage is continuously decreasing. The real reason for high costs is that the industry is not mature enough, and the small output leads to high production costs. Of course, the drone industry alone may not be able to achieve sufficient production, but with the popularization of hydrogen fuel cells in other fields such as automobiles, their costs will significantly decrease, even lower than the current cost level of lithium batteries. Of course, there are still many companies and research institutions researching non precious metal catalysts, and some have achieved good results.

  3. Hydrogen storage: Common storage methods include atmospheric adsorption hydrogen storage, high-pressure hydrogen storage, liquid hydrogen storage, compound hydrogen storage, etc. Various storage methods for hydrogen have their own shortcomings, and currently, the selection of more suitable hydrogen storage methods is generally based on the application field and usage method of the end product. The high-pressure hydrogen storage method is widely used by major car manufacturers, but it requires matching with appropriate hydrogenation equipment. Engineers are constantly striving to design hydrogen refueling equipment that is more convenient and safe to use, achieving the same convenience as car refueling.
