The research team believes that this discovery may change the way manufacturers produce batteries. Dr. Cho suggested that a designed oxide coating could be added to the surface of the battery. Solving the problem of battery overheating can increase the battery capacity by 20% to 30%, and the modified battery can withstand longer charging time.

Based on the above new findings, the research team said that there are already industry insiders interested in working with the Dallas campus to develop the next generation of cathode materials for electric vehicle batteries.
