According to foreign media reports, Tesla recently released a battery technology. The patent is a redundant battery management system, which consists of a client and a multi-channel, two-way, daisy chain communication loop. Since the battery is the only power source for electric vehicles, battery system failure may cause the electric vehicle to be unable to operate. To this end, Tesla feels the need to create a powerful and dynamic battery management system.
Tesla's battery patent is a redundant battery management system, consisting of a client and a multi-channel, two-way, daisy-chained communication loop. Tesla also lists identifying faults in the battery management system location method.
The company said that the battery management system may include a host (for example, a microcontroller that manages the system) and a client (a battery management integrated circuit that manages the battery cells in the system).
Tesla also further discussed the principle of the daisy chain loop of the battery management system: the host and each client can use the daisy chain transmission path loop to communicate and respond to instructions. The daisy chain loop may include A set of wires that carry electrical signals. A daisy-chain loop can also connect the host interface to each serial client interface, allowing for sequential communication, allowing single or multi-channel communication within the link.
The battery management system provides redundant communication paths because it enables bidirectional communication along the daisy chain loop. The dual channels used in each daisy chain loop enable independent or redundant battery management systems. The host can realize clockwise and counterclockwise serial client communication. Even if a channel connection failure occurs in the daisy chain loop, the bidirectional communication ensures that the communication between the host and each client can still be used normally. Additionally, this redundancy applies to dual channels.
Finally, Tesla pointed out that the system may enable dynamic redundancy within the battery management system, thereby improving the reliability of the new generation of battery packs.
The multi-channel architecture ensures that subsystem malfunctions (false data) do not affect the normal operation of supporting subsystems in other channels. Additionally, the bidirectional nature of the system provides assistance in the event of a daisy chain loop failure.
