One of the primary disadvantages is their relatively poor thermal stability. Soft - pack batteries are more prone to thermal runaway compared to some other battery chemistries. Another drawback is the self - discharge rate. Soft - pack lithium - ion polymer batteries have a relatively higher self - discharge rate compared to some other types of rechargeable batteries.
