Hazards of overcharging and discharging lithium batteries

  The rated voltage of lithium-ion batteries is generally 3.7V due to recent material changes, while the positive electrode of lithium iron phosphate (hereinafter referred to as ferrophosphate) is 3.2V. The termination charging voltage when fully charged is generally 4.2V and 3.65V for ferrophosphate. The termination discharge voltage of lithium-ion batteries is 2.75V~3.0V (the battery factory provides a working voltage range or termination discharge voltage, with slightly different parameters, generally 3.0V, and 2.5V for ferrophosphate). Continuous discharge below 2.5V (FeP 2.0V) is called overdischarge. Overdischarge or self-discharge reaction at low voltage will lead to decomposition and destruction of lithium ion active substances, which may not be reducible. Any form of overcharging of lithium-ion batteries can cause serious damage to battery performance, even explosions. Lithium ion batteries must avoid overcharging during the charging process.
