Lithium manganate rechargeable lithium batteries have been widely studied and applied in the field of energy storage. Lithium manganate (LiMn₂O₄) is used as the cathode material. It offers several advantages. Firstly, it has a relatively high operating voltage, which typically ranges from 3.5 to 4.3 volts. This allows for a good energy density, enabling the battery to store a significant amount of energy in a relatively small volume. For example, in portable electronic devices such as smartphones and tablets, lithium manganate batteries can provide sufficient power to support the device's functions for an extended period without occupying excessive space.
Secondly, lithium manganate is a relatively inexpensive material compared to some other cathode materials like lithium cobalt oxide. This cost advantage makes it more attractive for mass production and application in cost-sensitive markets. However, lithium manganate batteries also have some limitations. One of the main issues is the capacity fading during cycling. Over repeated charge and discharge cycles, the battery's capacity gradually decreases. This is mainly due to structural changes in the cathode material. To address this problem, researchers have been exploring various methods, such as doping the cathode material with other elements or optimizing the battery's manufacturing process.

At high temperatures or under overcharging conditions, the battery may experience thermal runaway, which can lead to safety hazards. Therefore, proper thermal management systems are essential in devices using lithium manganate rechargeable lithium batteries. lithium magnate rechargeable lithium batteries have their own characteristics and are continuously being improved to meet the increasing demands for energy storage in various applications.
