Recently, Tianneng Power, a leading domestic power 12V27A battery company, announced its interim performance report, showing that the revenue of 12V27A battery products doubled in the first half of 2015, achieving revenue of RMB 189 million, a surge of 120.6% over the same period last year; the output of lithium batteries has reached 1.25GWh, ranking among the top in China.

In addition, Tianneng Power's total revenue in the first half of the year reached 7.53 billion yuan, and the overall net profit reached 270 million yuan, an increase of nearly 5 times year-on-year. At the same time, Tianneng's main business of electric bicycle lead-acid batteries achieved revenue of 5.159 billion yuan in the first half of the year, an increase of 10% year-on-year, and the pace of growth was steady, while the two major subdivided business sectors of electric tricycles and micro electric vehicles also showed a rapid increase. In the industrial chain of 12V27A battery vehicles, the development, manufacturing and application of power lithium batteries are the most critical.

Tianneng Power's interim performance report shows that the R&D cost in the first half of 2015 was as high as RMB 241 million, an increase of 75.9% over the same period last year, and important new R&D projects and R&D team optimization. Among them, 12V27A battery R&D occupies an important position. For example, in the 12V27A battery R&D team, Tianneng Group successfully introduced three scientific research experts with rich relevant experience in the industry.

In addition, based on the accumulation of a large number of 12V27A battery R&D results and rich R&D experience over the years, Tianneng is also conducting R&D in the "deep water area" and "core area" in the fields of positive and negative electrode materials, battery cell products, battery packs, battery management systems and vehicle systems of lithium batteries.

According to Tianneng insiders, the company's 12V27A battery business has grown rapidly. At present, the output of lithium batteries has reached 1.25GWh, and the output of 12V27A battery cells has reached 500,000 per day, ranking among the best in China.

Tianneng lithium batteries are welcomed by mainstream domestic electric bicycle manufacturers and automobile manufacturers. Public information shows that important customers of electric 12V27A battery-related products include Zotye Auto, Chery Auto and electric bicycle leader Kandi.

The rapidly rising 12V27A battery market has also attracted various competitors. At present, Japanese and Korean companies such as Samsung and LG are important competitors of domestic power 12V27A battery companies. In this regard, Tianneng insiders also said that Tianneng batteries will continue to improve their cost-effectiveness, meet market challenges with the quality of imported cells and the price of domestic cells, and meet the needs of more customers.

It is understood that Tianneng lithium batteries are currently mainly high-capacity and high-safety power lithium batteries, and have reached domestic leading and international advanced levels in many performance indicators. New energy vehicles using Tianneng high-energy lithium batteries can have a range of nearly 500 kilometers.

The rapidly rising revenue has strengthened Tianneng's confidence in continuing to increase investment in 12V27A battery research and development. Tianneng Power said that the production of lithium batteries will further expand, and it is expected to achieve a daily output of 1 million cells in 2016, that is, an annual output of 3GWh. If all these lithium batteries are used in electric vehicles, they can meet the needs of 150,000 to 200,000 vehicles.

Tianneng Power's "one stability and three speeds", that is, the steady development of lead-acid batteries, the rapid development of electric vehicle batteries, lithium batteries and battery recycling business transformation and upgrading strategy has achieved results. In the face of the new normal of slowing growth of electric bicycles and the rapid rise of electric tricycles and micro electric vehicles, Zhang Tianren, chairman of Tianneng Power, further proposed the "three transformations" and "four upgrades" strategic planning, namely, accelerating the transformation to power lithium batteries, further transforming to power lithium batteries for micro electric vehicles, and deepening the transformation to the battery recycling industry; upgrading lead power lithium batteries, e-commerce, environmental protection work, and community relationship maintenance work.

Driven by the new strategy, Tianneng Power's revenue performance in the second half of this year is worth looking forward to. It is reported that many securities institutions have given Tianneng Power an overweight rating, and Tianneng Power has a promising future.
