New progress in 402030 polymer battery: life span can be doubled

 

According to foreign media reports, on November 12, local time, the results of research published by Pennsylvania State University (PennState) in the journal Nature Energy showed that longer-lasting, faster charging and safer 402030 polymer battery are possible. The research was funded by the U.S. Department of Energy. Researchers developed a three-dimensional cross-linked polymer sponge that can be attached to the metal coating of the battery anode.

 

Wang Donghai, professor of mechanical engineering at Pennsylvania State University and principal investigator of the project, said: "The project aims to develop the next generation of 402030 polymer battery. Trials of lithium metal in batteries have been going on for decades, but there are some fundamental problems that hinder the development of 402030 polymer battery."

 

Under additional strain, such as the need for fast charging methods for electric vehicles, lithium-ion batteries (Li) are susceptible to dendrite growth (needle-like structures), which shortens the battery cycle life and may cause safety threats such as fire or explosion. Professor Wang said: "Our approach uses a polymer at the lithium metal interface. The material is a porous sponge that not only allows lithium ions to transfer, but also inhibits lithium ion deterioration, allowing the metal coating to not grow dendrites even under low temperature and fast charging conditions."

 

This research can make more powerful and stable metal battery technology an indispensable part of daily life. Professor Wang said: "Used in electric vehicles, this metal battery can increase its range. It can also provide a longer-lasting battery for smartphones."

 

In the future, the research team will explore its practical application in large battery cells to verify the advantages and feasibility of this technology. Professor Wang said: "We want to push this type of technology forward. Through this research, we are sure that we can double the service life of 402030 polymer battery."
