The goal is to solve the needs of new energy vehicles for safety and long battery life. The "Energy Saving and New Energy Vehicle Technology Roadmap" proposes the development of all-solid-state lithium-ion battery technology in 2025, and the energy density of battery cells in 2025 and 2030 respectively. Reaching the goals of 400 and 500wh/kg, the energy density is 66% higher than the existing electrolyte lithium-ion battery, and the CR1632 battery will not suffer from thermal runaway and has better safety performance.
Breakthroughs in technology of some key materials and cost reduction are the core difficulties for large-scale promotion. Solid-state batteries are an upgrade of current lithium-ion battery technology. The development path is semi-solid → quasi-solid → all-solid. The important differences are that the solid electrolyte replaces the electrolyte, does not require a separator, and ultimately replaces the graphite anode with a metallic lithium anode.
